I’ve been wanting to take these large dead Aspen’s down for some time. 20” diameter. Had to use a bunch of wedges to get one leaner to go where I wanted. Looks like some of it can make lumber!

Doesn’t look like our Aspen. This is where my tree knowledge stinks. Glad I can read about things and learn. @Mr. Peet , what variety would this be compared to Colorado Aspen?
Loaded Question: They look a lot like Eastern Cottonwood, the darker heartwood matches better than to Quaking or Big-tooth aspen.

Garry, you hear Aspen and think of the Quaking / Trembling Aspen with the smooth upper bark and pale whitish hue. Same family, different species.

Thanks mark. Knew there were family members, just don’t know enough about them. You nailed my reference exactly as usual. Thanks.
