I'm looking to purchase a couple blocks of Cedar Elm for carpenters Mallets. Does anybody sell them on here? I live in Suffolk Virginia.

wow, sounds cool. I guess so, never heard of that. is it hard enough to be a mallet head? i'm googling THAT one!

Could have been that elm was a traditional choice for mallets cause it's a very split resistant wood, I have read that it was the wood of choice for hubs on wagon wheels back in the day. We used wood for heat growing up, sometimes my dad would cut what was locally known as "piss elm" it was almost impossible to split with an ax.....
How much for that block, rob? This piece is 4x4x14. If I trim to 12" to ship I think the two knots would be gone.
