Hello, this is my first post here. But I am looking for cocobolo burl. Call blank size, pen blank size, slabs, whatever I can get really. And also looking for a small slab of black ash burl 3 inches thick.

I see you are listed as member not full member. You will need to run over the rules about Introductions and number of posts needed to be able to private message. Please post a short intro and if you got any, we all love to swap pictures of projects. I believe it's about 5 posts and you are up and running. Thanks, Frank

Actually, Tim has made an Into post, just 3 years ago! Good luck Tim, hope you join our conversations more often!

@Timd Some real nice wood your looking for my friend! Just a little advise on the Coco Burl, I have owned a nice block once upon a time and it's not easy to come by, even harder today than 12 years ago when I got mine. A lot of post I see for this elusive burl, IMHO, is actually just nicely/highly figured wood, NOT burl.
So, buyer beware! Got to have massive amounts of grain movement and if the points/rays shine like gold then I say it's real and you should attempt to buy.

Here are 2 photo's of the real deal Coco Burl. What I had came from the same burl as the Hollow form vessel shown that Jim Syvertsen so beautifully made.

Happy hunting!!

That is absolutely SPECTACULAR. I have some labeled coco burl, but I'm about 99.9% sure its HRB. Id love to have a real piece of cocobolo burl like yours shown. But IDK if I could ever bring myself to use it.

I agree, its pretty tricky to acquire, so actually making something out of it has to be pretty special. I have a couple pieces that I will probably never do anything with along with some other burls ya never see.

That piece is crazy! Yeah I figured it was a hard reach on my end but I have some African Blackwood burl to trade if I could ever find coco burl!
