Hello all,

I plan to spend some of my summer working on the ol’ midi lathe and practicing bowls. Does anyone have any non-tropical blanks out there? I would like the bowls to be more natural: divots, wormholes, burl, and so on. Being that my lathe is smaller, the bowls blanks would need to be as well.

i will attach an example of what I mean.

Thanks for looking!

I have a rather large collection of “once-turned” bowls that a lot of newer bowl turners like because they are 1/2 done, and dry, and you can save $$ rather than buying a full fledged bowl blank. If you’re interested let me know.

Sure thing! Pass 'em along and I'll take a look.

On a midi lathe, you can get as big as 9-10 inches.... don't have to be real small.
This one here ended up 8.5". You'd be amazed how much a Midi lathe can handle.

If you sre just looking for regular stuff, I have a bunch of maple that fits that bill. Probably some walnut and cherry. Will have to check tomorrow.

Here’s a few -all dry for years.
Left to Right
1. 5.5 w x 3” deep Norfolk Island pine = $7
2. 5” x 2.5” Elm = $5
3. 6” x 2” figured Silver Maple = $7
4. 6.75” x 2.25” - Elm = $7
5. 7.5” x 1.5” Maple Burl = $20
6. 6.25” x 2” Black Walnut = $13
7. 7.5” x 2” Maple Burl = $20

Cost plus shipping. Would like to sell a minimum of 3 per order due to shipping efforts. Thanks.
