Hi
@Hilltopper46 Thanks for your patience! Several days, many cuts, multiple cracks, and one fried band saw blade later, I have photos of specimens to share with you.
These are the larger pieces of holly, and you can get your selected size in either end grain or lengthwise many times over each. However, if it's not quite white enough for your needs, or if you don't like them for some reason, my feelings will not be hurt.
The first few photos are the holly. I cut from a larger branch until the cracks that had developed faded to allow easily for 2"x2" pieces... near the center of the log! See measurements in the following photos.
Here's the "Dogwood," though I do not think it's a prize for your intended needs. Note the natural crack in the middle and the wild coloration in the first photo. You are welcomed to it if you want it. The fullest thickness 1 3/4", though portions are thinner as the natural edges of the former log slope downward.
Here are two shots of the end grain of the "Dogwood" piece. Does the bark above help ID this wood?
The pieces of Holly (smallish and largish) all fit into a MFRB with room to spare for what-nots you may like. I'll do this box for
$10 + $21 for shipping. Depending on what additional pieces I can find to fit your preference and size, they would not change the shipping charge.
If you are not interested in the "dogwood," I could cut down the holly to fit into a SFRB that ships for $11.70.
If we go this route, I'd need to learn how you want these cut (2" square x 3/8" with a bit extra in all planes) to fit in the smaller box, and whether you wanted face grain, longitudinal, or combo of both. I'd need to add a few bucks at that point to account for time, etc.
Thanks again!
