In Georgia the Almond law as we refer to it is heavily enforced with high fines and a second time offenders can count on becoming a three time loser. My family has always keep a almond orchard on a 40 acre plot of lowland. This land came from my Mothers family side. Before I was born there was an incident with the orchard my Mother won’t talk about. This hush hush incident had made us law abiding
Citizens. My father likes to tease her now and then about some Wild Almonds getting in her orchard. But Mama just can’t see the humor in being a three time loser.

I believe I may have something you’ll really enjoy I’ve got several not sure how many I have but I’ve got some strips of the spalted maple burl been working on recently some probably a round 1/4 up to just under 3/4 all just over 2” wide I’m assuming there all around 12-18” long. I also have some single pieces from stabilized blocks that were ether too thin to cut a set of scales from or just a thin cut off. I can probably come up with some more of those as well. I’ll get some pictures. You could probably get some 1/4” scales from some of the thick pieces if you have a bandsaw that will cut straight. The photo is one of the cutoff strips sitting on some dried pieces. I was trying to show someone the colors without wetting down those pieces.

Ok I’ll sevehat all I’ve got I have given this stuff a very politically incorrect name bladesmith crack I haven’t put a set of scales up for sale yet that lasted more than 10 minutes and I have been doing lot. This photo is clear evidence as to why they aren’t lasting very long. That’s 100% natural colors
