Lots of wood for trade - long version

fyi, I edited my above post to correctly label the dogwood as such. It is not redbud. But I have a log of redbud you can see from the wood identification posting if you want that.

Redbud is another new one to me, hadn't even heard of it!

I can get the true mango so we can cross that off. I have the aspen and should be getting scotch pine so that's two more off. I have a magnolia x so maybe leave those for now? I'll go add up how many pieces I'm sending you, I suggest if you just do the ones that are closest to the right size or easiest for you to prepare? Still a couple more deliveries to come with yours, and also Friedrich's kenthao.

Speaking of which... This is what I have for @Friedrich9 , just missing the kenthao ironwood as far as I remember

It's the six taped pieces: parba, African birch, guayacan, black palmira, pinkheart leatherwood and turkey oak. Do remind me if I missed any. I can measure them all up too

FAO @Big Ry and anyone else looking to trade. Here's a couple of handy lists.

Firstly a list of the woods that have passed through my hands sorted by hardness.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...ouid=105600598488223458219&rtpof=true&sd=true

I can't sort by colour or figure unfortunately!

Secondly a list of all the woods on the Wood Database poster that I'm missing.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...ouid=105600598488223458219&rtpof=true&sd=true

The trades with @Friedrich9 and @SA-Motors will take care of some of these.

I've been crossing off the poster the woods I've made flutes from. I have several more of these woods in hand. At some point I'll need that Indian sandalwood to finish both the column and the row

Hi @daveflutes i’ll wait till you are ready before I do the cutting. By the way, I have a really nice piece of sweetgum (Liquidambar styraciflua) too. Here’s a picture of it, and a bowl I turned from the same piece.

I’ll take some more of the ebony pen blanks. We went off of another message from the last time but want to post about another sale. 20 ebony pen blanks

Oh my god! I forgot about the trades! That is it. I’m setting myself an alarm. If my mind is too slow to remember these things then my phone has to help it along.
Was it you or Fred said you had one that's 2 years in progress... :)
I can properly get my head round the trades with Fred and Ryan now anyway!

That was almost certainly Fred, and I think its 3 years if I recall lol. Fred says the Aussies drag ass real bad.

@daveflutes sorry I disappeared a small series of disasters hit all at once. I was ready through this trying to find your list of your top picks. I got bowyakka, hairy oak, and black mulga put aside for you. I can definitely do the iron wood wattle. I was able to do more, I just can’t remember what they are. I am the one in the process of a 3+ year trade/purchase with an Australian 🤣. It’s hopefully for a good amount of A. peuce and a few other cool things. I know waddywood was on your list, I’d like to wait and see how that trade works out. It’s difficult to find and I’m nervous about cutting into my logs currently, I haven’t decided exactly what I want to do with them yet. I’m going to incorporate a piece into my dad’s urn. And I want to save a cross section of the bigger one. It’s probably several hundred years of growth, and I want to preserve the history. But back on track please let me know your wish list again. And I’ll get that together so we can get round one moving.

Are you saying this deal might actually finally go through? Lol they aren't complaining about CITES or Lacey anymore?

It’s possibly. Nothing in the trade is on the cities list. Now he’s saying his shipper is charging a huge surcharge for fuel prices, and dragging his feet. I’m telling him to send it to one of my friends down there at this point and we can sort it out. He’s driving me nuts lol. I’m a slow paced person. But this guy is next level

He's probably busy fending off kangaroos and tasmanian devils

@TurkeyWood @SA-Motors @daveflutes @Big Ry
My tired brain forgot who was talking about this, but here is an end grain of Dalbergia hupeana and a board of what I believe is Dalbergia monticola. It pretty much matches the sample of the hobbit house website and a few other sources I’ve seen. I’m debating sending a piece of the board for confirmation. Madagascar rosewoods are tricky sometimes

If i was asking about it, i don't recall the context. I think the last time i tried to ID a dalbergia was that half log that Earl sent me. I'll add @Jperry93 into the conversation as well, since he's regularly looking into dalbergia. It's possible that he was involved.

I don't know if I was involved with that one, but its really cool to see a piece of hupeana - don't see that one that often!
I'd say thats a very close match to D. monticola! In my own stash I have baronii and greveana, but none of the others, so I don't have anything to compare to, but if I had to bet, I would agree on monticola even from side grain.
