Yeah but the wood is usually different. Also, they are usually eyed burls. Still a possibility.It kind of looks like a eucalyptus burl to me. They're usually pretty smooth on the outside.
John, just looked at picture 5 and zoomed. Looks like there might be banding in those rings. Thinking I might want to change my thoughts. Look foraward to the next steps and maybe some close-up shots.

For wood ID AI is really not so good. I forget which one it is but one of them lets you choose its sources for information. If you sue that one you could put in Paul’s site and the wood database.Hi John @Jonkou Great photos to ID purposes!
I checked in with AI and it offered the following assessment:
"I suspect this is:
a large maple burl / crotch / trunk deformation, partially spalted, with mixed figure." And quite possibly sugar maple.
