A neighbor (since moved away) had asked me to make him some grips for a 1911 80% kit he was putting together. I helped him drill some holes on my drill press and I opened my big mouth. "Sure, it would be easy!".

I wasn't easy. After screwing up a pair of expensive cocobolo scales by misdrilling the holes, I got serious and did some real research.

Made some templates, measured the holes to 3 and 1/16th inch center to center, since that has to be exact. First made a walnut pair, then then curly Koa.

Anyone made any grips they'd like to share? Post em here. I'd love to see em!

I'm not sure if it's the picture, but the last one, they look to be too big for the frame.
Nice looking wood though...

whats the golden-ish ones with the ray-flecks? Second from last?

I don't have the full gun so I'm just winging it. Yeah I suppose I could take the edges down a little. Thanks.

Just finished this set for Don O., a gun writer in Florida. Made of Bethlehem Olive Wood, these are going on one of his custom built 1911's.
