Makore Bowl Blank

hi @Manzanitaman I think I’d like one of the 7 x 7 x 3 bowl blanks. Do you have one that’s quarter on without sap and figure like the first one you posted? Can you post me a picture so I can take a look? If it looks as nice as the first piece I will buy.

By any chance do you have, or have access to grapevine trunks? I’ve wanted to try turning one.
This piece is 14 1/4" x 7" x 3" off the same board. I can cut you a blank.

What size Grapevine do you want?

If you can get the 18 inch piece that would be great! The key would be to make sure it is straight enough or thick enough to get a 1 1/4” spindle from it. I know the vines can be crooked. I don’t want to do glue ups. Can you post a picture and a price when you have a chance? Thanks!

This is the piece of Makore that you marked in red. This Grape vine is 20" x 1 1/2" diameter and straight. I have some shorter pieces that can be used for pens if you want them.

That looks like a completely different species. This is makore?
Did you get the reply I sent yesterday? I sent the below.
"Turns out that piece isn't Makore. They were both in an old storage shed for 40+ years and were rough cut and covered in dust and bird crap. Both were 80" x 7" so I figured they were the same. I planed a 2' piece this morning and it is most likely East Indian Rosewood. It is too heavy to be Black Walnut. Here are some pictures. Do you want this instead?"

No i didn't see that, but i do now. I don't know what's going on. I've looked through this thread a few times in the last 24hrs specifically for a follow-up from you, and i didn't see anything. And now i can clearly see you responded yesterday afternoon.

Anyway, i don't want any east Indian rosewood. I'm actually selling some of mine now. But i would be interested in a piece of grapevine if you have more. I don't need anything super long, 8-12" is plenty. I would prefer it be at least 3" diameter or larger. But I'll take anything 1.5" dia and up. Larger diameter the better.
