I said "It looks to match". I did not say that it did match. So, no, could not tell with certainty based on end grain. However, face grain looked good as well.

Thanks - was curious about it. There's been a few posts with wood for sale and a question mark following the naming of the wood. I see buyers going for it without any confirmation (no endgrain confirmation, no weight per bf, etc) of what they are buying. Latest said Walnut (?) and now being sold as East Indian Rosewood because "it looks like it" (maybe). I suppose if the buyers like the way it looks, it doesn't really matter the species. And, it's really none of my business anyway............LOL
