....At least, that's what the blank was labeled when I bought it for $12. I think I've been had, or this is the straightest burl grain I've ever seen! :scratch_one-s_head:

I think I've been had! :)

Maple 7 1/2 x 2 1/2, finished with danish oil.

It's a nice bowl...but I suspect it was at best 1% burl and the rest was straight. Probably turned off the burl section.
That being said...alot of times you have to get really creative with burls to get the most of it's eyes and figure by choosing a shape that holds onto the good stuff.

Don't see any burl but look at it this way, it's beautiful and for $12 worth every penny.

Really - it's gorgeous.

:good2:

I don't see burl but I do see a lot of nice color and a very well crafted piece. :yipee::yipee::yipee::good2:

Are you even sure it's maple?:pleasantry: On the bright side, at least you didn't have to turn a bunch of burl into chips and curls!

I think you did well on the finished product! Looks thin with a nice flowing curve!

Thanks all!

It's maple (my photo color is a bit too blue) I'm not disappointed in the finally product, I was just a bit surprised! :shok:

It feels good in my hand, so it's a keeper.
