I've always wanted to try to make one of these. Now that I have, I think I'll stick to what I can fit in a pressure pot. At least until I can make a dedicated dust free area. The largest chunk of wood is curly maple I got from @Allen Tomaszek around five years ago, as well as one of the other pieces. The last is a piece of maple burl. The legs I got from Amazon but they were too short so I put risers on them and it worked out.

Nice. I don’t really like coloured resin but this is making me doubt.
I totally get it and blue is really overdone but it’s my favorite color and it’s mine so….

Looking great. How many hours of polishing?
I used Upstart Epoxy’s topcoat so 0 hours of polishing once I put on the final coat. It took 2 coats because of the bubbles that I wasn’t able to catch the first time and of course the sanding I had to do in between coats. I’d say the total hours of sanding I put in after I planed it down was probably around 2-3 hours.

Now that I think about it, I could be wrong about the guesstimate since I listen to audiobooks or watch YouTube videos while I’m in the shop. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Beautiful table Barb. Love the blue, it goes well with the wood tones. The visual "texture" in the epoxy is fantastic, adds a lot of interest to the top. I like that set of legs. Goes well with the style of the top.

Very nice, well done, I like the blue with the maple.

Where did you source the mold?

Thank you. I got the mold from Upstart Epoxy when it was on sale. It’s 1” thick and pretty sturdy.

Just roughly, how much epoxy did that take for the main pour? And did you get the ripple effect solely from pouring a single color or did it take , as my dad would say, holding your mouth just right?
I think it took around 7 cups and I didn’t get the effect I wanted at all. I got impatient and poured it at night instead of waiting for morning when I could’ve monitored it and swirled it when the time was right. I used ocean blue and turquoise. But, live and learn. There were many things I learned from this trial. :)

Still cool, looks reminiscent of a burl, so all good ...
And the live and learn part, yep, we all gotta do that or die trying

Hi Barb, great job! I don't have either the equipment or the skills to do this, but I sure do have an appreciation of the finished project. What colors and woods are you planning to work with in the future?

Thank you! I don’t plan on doing another any time soon but if I did I‘d like to use olive wood with maybe a forest green or something like that. :)
