Santa bought me a helical head for my DeWalt 734 planer 😁 it's by Findbuytool and comes in at only $300 vs the $600 benchmark Shelix cutter by Byrd. Hard for Santa to justify paying twice the cost of the planer for a cutter head for that same planer. Maybe if it were the DeWalt 735 it would make more sense but not for the 734. I've heard good things about these heads, and i think my last set of straight cutters is starting to cut uneven so it was time.

Good for you!!!

Be sure to do a review of it. And maybe some pics of the installation so folks that may be thinking about doing this can get an idea of what's involved.

Congrats! Early Christmas at your shop!

I know that changing all those inserts is time consuming. Installing new Byrd head on my 8" jointer was a lot easier than anticipated. It will be a lot quieter.

That's good, cause at present it's incredibly loud.
