I don't know the wood, possibly Elm, but it's almost the size of Tony. All it needs is refining.@Nubsnstubs As much as I appreciate larger pieces, my artistic interpretation leads to making them smaller. While I've done things about the size of a dinner plate, and even a coffee table once (no more!), I'm a big fan of pieces more like silverware: irregular pieces with holes or character.
What have you got available? I often go nuts for pieces that some others discard.
