I think Ive been emotionally damaged by all the wood orders that came in a single cardboard box that broke open during shipping :lol2: So now every shipment gets its own roll of packing tape 😁
 
Don't hold your breath - still have about 2 1/2 months until I have enough time to devote to wood working/turning!
 
Not really - cannot see the back of the junkashoparage or the storage unit. So it'll go in the front! Heck, there is a Jamieson Hollowing set up in the back of the junkashoparage I'll have to get out sometime soon - I've promised it to somebody!

I'm still learning from the master. So far, I can still see about 90% of my wood :lol2:

When you do, I would check out Matt estlea on YouTube. He made mallets with lead wood (a closely related species) which would give you some valuable insight into the working characteristics of mgurue.

That's the tiniest mallet I've ever seen lol it looks good though. Olive wood is in interesting choice too. The hand feel of olive wood should make for a great tool handle.

Olive is a good handle wood. The mallet also weighs much more than you would think. It weighs as much as the heaviest mallet he could find.

Ok, that is a cool mallet. Leaning up against the office wall is a board of Lead wood / Verawood, waiting to be made into a mallet/s. Just need to find some olive big enough for a handle! Hint, hint

‘Got back from vacation and had a well wrapped box waiting for me. After about an hour trying to open the box (thanks Ryan for a great job of protecting the wood) I found a great looking piece of Mgurue. Jim
 
Coincidentally, I was just now handed a box. Took me a little while opening as it was kinda like opening a Matryoshka doll! But the care is greatly appreciated. However, we do need to get @Big Ry and @Arn in a wrapping competition! Right now, Arn would win. Maybe he will check in soon - he is back in US.
