Through the years, while indulging in my shop addictions, I have accumulated drops from several exotic and domestic woods that were just too pretty to throw away. So, I started cutting them up to sell here as pen blanks. Then I got to thinking ‘why not have some fun and make the pens myself’? Well, after several dozen pens, my collection of blanks has grown even larger! So I am offering some of them here after all. All the blanks are 6” long and at least 3/4” square.
I have:
8 Padauk blanks
4 purpleheart blanks
6 Jatoba blanks
10 very curly Crepe Myrtle blanks
And 24 Red Mulberry blanks
I have offered some mulberry blanks before and was told that they didn’t show any feature. I have included a pic of a pen that I made from this wood. Granted, the wood is flat in color to begin with, but I easily enhanced its feature by applying some red mahogany stain and immediately wiping it off after I had sanded the barrel to 600 grit and before applying CA finish and polish.
I would like to sell the lot as a whole. That would be 52 blanks for $100 plus $15 shipping. The box is 6”x6”x9” and weighs 8 lb, and that’s the best rate I can .
