RE: i need help with my android app

I've asked for help from some mybb wizards hopefully they will come read the thread and see if they can give us some suggestions.

RE: i need help with my android app

Thank you much i tried a reboot of my phone and reinstall of the app still isn't working for pics

RE: i need help with my android app

Something i thought of durning lunch today... i also participate on woodworkingtalk.com using my phone. The format is nearly identical to this one and i can upload pix there just fine. I am thinking this may be operator error on my part. I have explored as many different settings as i can find in my phone and tried last nite to adjust any settings on my wood barter acct using my laptop. Hopefully kevin gets some good insight from the guys at mybb to at least rule out anything with the site itself.

RE: i need help with my android app

I may have solved the problem i just tried to up load a pic thru my browser and i got a n error report that my pic was to big so here goes with a smaller pic

No good i went to the smallest setting for my pix and still no go dang!

yep... Does it tell you the limit of the file size you are allowed to upload?
The limit I had was 100kb if I remember correctly...

The app received several updates and Kevin may have done something to fix it, (I did bug him about it) and it was remedied (for the ipod apps anyway)
Kevin was wrong about me,:wacko1: I'm no help.

RE: i need help with my android app

When i used my browser the mssg said i could only upload 700kb at one time. I them reset my camera from a 5MP to 3 then 1 and still the app wouldnt upload the pic. I never went back to the web browser i trust that if i got the size down i could get a pic up using the browser.

I just discovered that one of the reasons some mobile users cannot post pics is because their phones only allow PNG format. Our forum doesn't accept that one. It's one of the few we do not accept, because i asked our webmaster to disable the ability for users to use those maddening animated avatars (I hate those things) and she said those use PNG and that also that extension is a huge rescource hog so she disabled them for us, so that's why at least *some* of you cannot upload images I bet.

For those of you whose phones can save images as jpeg maybe you shed some light on it on what and how you're able to do that? I'm not a iphone or andorid user so y'all help each other out, and let me know what I can do on the dumb end of the smart phone issue and I will do it if possible.

iPhone user here and I have no problem uploading pics that are hosted on photo bucket. that's about the most advanced thing I do on my phone and its a wonder I ever get it to work. Sorry I can't be much more help.

I wonder why users can't use PB to host PNG images and just link? Maybe that's the simple workaround?

This problem has come up several times in the past. I had never tried posting from my cell phone so gave it a whirl. I snapped a picture and tried posting it from Safari on my iPhone. The post went through but the pic did not. I then email yje pic to myself so I could try to post the same raw pic on my desktop. In doing so I got the warning that the image size was too big. I then resized down to 800 max pixels, sent it to my iPhone and was able to successfully upload the image. Most smart phones today have relatively high resolution cameras that by default take a pic too large to post. The software that comes with it often does not have the capacity to resize, or we just don't know how to use it.
For those of you who are having posting problems from your phones, can you check to see if the photo size has a dimension bigger than 800 pixels?
I will do another test a little later this evening. Right now I need to get to get to the shop. I owe some waste blocks and stabilized knife scales to a couple very patient members. :drinks: ~ Scott

iPhone and iPad forum runner users.

Exit wood barter, then go into forum runner settings.

Select forum posting options.

Select image, you can choose png, or jpg. Do jpg (smaller size)

Then attachment quality, select high resolution (1024)

Trying Brink's method I only had to change the resolution to high. Never had an issue before and haven't touched the settings before (iPhone).

Most animated images I know of are GIF. If that's an accepted format I'm changing mine to a dancing hamster!
