This is my inspiration to make finger joint boxes. Was my father-in-law's. He was antiques dealer for a number of years. Guessing it held some kind of tool. I use it for my coffee filters and scoop and sometimes bag of coffee. IMG_0391.jpeg IMG_0391.jpeg IMG_0392.jpeg IMG_0392.jpeg IMG_0393.jpeg IMG_0393.jpeg

Now here are three of four boxes that I made. Mostly IMG_3022.jpeg IMG_3022.jpeg IMG_3029.jpeg IMG_3029.jpeg IMG_3027.jpeg IMG_3027.jpeg IMG_3023.jpeg figured maple with some walnut and Purple Heart. I will eventually get to wider stock. Kept it fairly thin just to begin with and get a feel for how to do them. IMG_3021.jpeg IMG_3021.jpeg IMG_3026.jpeg IMG_3026.jpeg IMG_3025.jpeg IMG_3025.jpeg

I have seen a lot of those boxes that held survey instruments. My dad still has the one we used when I was working constructíon with him. He bought it from the widow of a suveyor who passed away in the 1980s. I never checked the age of it...

Your boxes are a bit snazzy to dump a transit or laser level in!

Great opportunity to experiment on what works & what doesn’t. Keep ‘em coming! The original box is very inspirational! Chuck

That's what I was thinking also!
