That's what I was thinking also!I have seen a lot of those boxes that held survey instruments. My dad still has the one we used when I was working constructíon with him. He bought it from the widow of a suveyor who passed away in the 1980s. I never checked the age of it...
Your boxes are a bit snazzy to dump a transit or laser level in!
I used the Incra box jig. Picked it up at a estate sale couple of years ago.Good looking joints. Please show the jig you used.
If you take up beekeeping, you can definitely make hive boxes.
