Back in 2010, I built an entry door and kitchen cabinets for the same person who I just installed the same door and kitchen cabinets for who now lives in Ozark, Missouri. He liked the design so much that he duplicated it when he moved from Forsyth to Ozark. Anyway, a tornado went through and knocked down a Hickory tree while I was there and he gave me the wood.
When i got back to Tucson, I felt the right thing to do was make him a mill set from the wood. I made up two blanks and proceeded to turn them. After the salt will was done, I started turning the one that had darker wood for thew pepper mill. When done, I took them into the house to show Deb, my wife. She said, "Oh, Look, there's an arrowhead". My reply to that was, "What????" She pointed it out, and sure as stuff, there it was. What is intriguing about this, both he and I are both Flintknappers. After 10+ years, here are a few pictures.

So now, I'm back in Ozark, and took pictures of the mills. The pepper Mill is on the right.

Just a shot of the mills....... Again, the Pepper Mill is on the right.

My wife thought that arrowhead in the wood was just amazing, but especially a mill made by a flint knapper going to a another flintknapper. ........

When I made these back then, I made a mandrel to assist in keeping them even. It worked great. When I get back to Tucson, I'll post a picture of it. It just simplifies every step needed in making mills............. Jerry (in Tucson)
