On the largest logs you might want to grab a milling adapter that fits over a 2x4. It clamps to your chainsaw bar. Decently affordable and only takes about 30 seconds to attach to your saw.

Chuck, there are lots of YouTube videos of this in use out there. Often these are used on larger logs to square a side as if for a can't after taking a first cut with an Alaskan mill. Often the user will screw down a 2x4 or 2x6 to use as a guide.
