Looking for a turning square or two of clear, unchecked and dry Maple, Basswood or any other light colored common North America wood that measures at least 6" x 6" on the endgrain sides and at least 8" long. If you've got some of that and want to sell, drop me a line please.

Realize that most commercial mills stop at 12/4 and 16/4...? So most would be laminating to attain that size. Hope you score.

Lost me at dry-clear unchecked.. probably would take maple 5 years to dry 6" thick. then to be unchecked would be rare. probably would spalt if maple. I may accidently have a sorta clear unchecked GREEN piece. Plenty of 6" green burl. Folks do not understand the difficulty in drying wood.

I know this is a difficult want...that's why it's posted here, among the world's best wood hoarders:lol2:

The only place(s) I know that you can get the 6” square (8”, 10”, 12” square) are from Architectural supply houses that caters to interior and architecture support, millwork such as post, beams, lintels, fireplace over mantle…..

If you can

@Flacer22 said something about having a mill and access to a kiln...

I have air dried Basswood cut 20 plus years ago. 7" x 9" x up to 18" length. $15 a board foot.

Ed, I brought the piece into the house and discovered it is actually 7" x 11" x 25.5" and has heart on one end. Because of the defect on the end I would drop the price to $12 a bf. That would make it $140. for the wood and $30 shipping. I apologize for the confusion on my part and totally understand if your not interested! Here are some pictures showing what I'm talking about.

Have some years dry, defect free maple I could recut if your meaning of clear is not plain white wood, these have some figure. Two 6x6x9 no problem, how would you like the grain oriented? Would trade for njab 2021-15 or similar for my grand daughter, we’ve been making tops for a few years and she would love it.

Ed, If you don't see what you want yet then I've got several questions that come to mind:

If you don't mind sharing then what are you trying to do with this block?
Can the maple be spalted?
Want soft maple or hard maple?
Figured or plain wood?
What are your thoughts about gluing two boards together?
Would any other medium colored woods like oak work?
Do you need a 6x6 on one end or would a 6" diameter cylinder work?
