I don’t normally get this large of Australian blanks but I acquired this some years back and just kind of forgot about it. I think at the time I thought I’d eventually get an oval turning chuck/attachment like the VOD300 but I never did get one. So, what would you create with this to maximize the blank. It’s approximately 4” thick in the middle and 18x12. It’s either Coolibah or Corrugata I think(not really sure anymore). Winged bowl with one main centered bowl or would you offset, or maybe offset 2 shallower bowls. I turn on a Stubby 750. And would you trim off the bottom(looks like part for the base of the tree).

IMHO, i think you want to show off the curved surface. Round it out and add epoxy to the curved surface

Never worked with a burl, but my first thought is to turn a live edge bowl centered on the middle. Flat cut being the bottom of the bowl. This will give you a nice uneven edge due to the varying thickness. Advantage to this is you have lots of burl cutoffs to use in smaller projects.

Another idea is to use the whole piece as is with a little trimming of the trunk. Flat side would still be the bottom, but instead of trying cut a large bowl, cut one 6-7" diameter out of the middle leaving the majority of the rough burl surface intact. Those types of pieces are large, but the smooth, finished interior of the bowl provides a nice contrast with the rough surface of the burl.
