Been checking out all the new rider mowers for some time now, and finally decided on
getting the new Cub Cadet XT2 LX46 with the twin bagger. Going to go to a dealer
Sat. and pick it up, and the best part ......Momma bought it for me....woohoo :good2:

Izat a ZTR? When I needed a new mower 4 years ago I went with a zero turn and I got to tell you I'd never own a standard mower again. You can't imagine how much time you save and how much easier it is to mow. If that model isn't a ZTR I highly urge you to consider getting one.

I'm envious of all you guys with the newer mowers, I'm still using a 50 year old John Deere 110

Is yours really a 1965? Like this?

That's a badass looking tractor.

Yep, Mine is either a 65 or 67 and still has the old round fenders. It's getting a motor from a 67 112 in it as soon as it warms up enough to work in the garage. The original 8HP Kohler went belly up after 50 years or so and the 112 had a strong motor and was priced right to part it out.

I've got an ancient 316, 16 hp Kohler that still runs good. How do you tell how old these things are? I bought this one in '94 and it was worn out then. Gary

Nah, Kevin its just the regular mower and not the zero turn. I have a 12 deg. hill, not sure how much power that zero turn would work.

Get one with large back tires. I don't have hills so I was able to go the smallish rear tire route. Mine has a 23HP Kawasaki and would climb a tree if it could get the traction.

I looked hard at the ZTRs, they are clearly a better machine, and what the pros use, but I have pretty rough ground and I read that can be a problem for the small wheels, and I am basically mowing a large rectangle with no obstructions, and the fact that they cost about twice as much, led me to go with a tractor style... Randy, I read a lot of good things about the Cub Cadet in my research, Sounds like you got a good machine...

By far the best money I have ever spent. Was on my eXmark! What always took 4 hours with my John Deere 54" I can now in a hour with my 52" I mow 3 acres & around 100 trees I have planted in 11 years. Plus a lot less weeder time.

I was just thinking of getting it out and mowing a little to warm it up to change the oil & filter.

There's really no comparison is there. You can't really appreciate it until you mow your yard with one. All it takes is one single time and you won't ever want to use a standard again.
