I sent this picture to the owner of Mean Gene Leather. 20151101_065602.jpg

Gene really liked the work and then asked if I could make some samples of inserts. He also asked if would I consider collaborating with him to sell these as an upgrade to the belts and buckles he already sells. It has been fun to figure out how to make these in limited production runs (5 - 10 pieces in each type of wood, and yes, in Carbon Fiber). I have curly walnut, curly maple, koa, and C.F. Just wanted to share. Certainly not a great way to make a living, but definitely a great way to pay for my hobby, buy a few pieces of wood and a new bandsaw in my future.

Just basic super glue, believe it or not. The buckles are stainless, with some kind of finish to get the broze or black. The super glue works fine if the surface is cleaned.

I love that military style of belt buckle. I have half a dozen (of the standard issue cheapos) and they are all I wear. I even have one left from my days in the CG and it still works like new.

Those custom buckles are super cool but way out of my price range for a buckle no matter how cool. Nice work on both your parts hope the collaboration works.
