The scraps will be going to the cabin for kindling. Since I’m cutting only for my own use I usually don’t bother breaking down into smalls unless it’s something special. Already have a lifetime supply in boxes and rarely turn it anymore.

Finished cutting the last of this Maple. These are the nicest ones of the three pieces.

Cut a blank today to evaluate. There is a little punk here and there on the hollowed center side and some bug holes on the outer of all the pieces but easy to work around and overall is solid. The best you could hope for is a 6-7” cube or cylinder x about 6-7 “ tall. May have some bug holes or checks but should be solid enough to turn and make repairs with resin if needed. If that will work for you I’ll see what I can do when I break them down. All face cuts are chainsaw so they look rough but bandsaw cuts are good.

John - thank-you for posting this. I never would have thought you could get so much solid wood that close to the rotten core of the tree. I've seen some stumps like this, but really never bothered investigating too closely. Nice job!
