OK, on the lookout for burl blocks about 3x3x3 - maybe down to 2.5x2.5x1. Need two of generally the same stock. Or something I can cut these from. Amboyna comes to mind as well as BAB. But others, including briar would work. Plus needs to be rather solid. Inclusions and voids in the right place would be ok, but generally need to be pretty solid. I know it will be rather pricey - but I want to be a star!

Yeh, my wallet is aware! I've bought at least 2 boxes, but none is really big enough to do 'xactly what I want to do. However, with that being said, no reason I couldn't go smaller.
Go bog or go home! I'm sure he's got some big blanks for ya.

@Mike Hill I know how much you like Buckeye, so I can fix you up! :lol2: :lol2:

I have this block of Golden Amboyna 3 x 3.75 x 10.
$75 plus shipping. It’s the Golden Amboyna variety so not red and a lot less dense than Red Amboyna.

That could work. Could you get a shot of the ends. Rather have it solid eyes, but sometimes you can't be real picky.
Here’s end shots dry and all six sides misted with water. There is a small void area one end and small touch of sapwood on the other end. I’ve had this block for 5 years and it’s completely dry.

Eric, which one would you like? I'd prefer the 3" ers, but not too concerned.
