padauk

@phinds

Byron, the longer piece also looks like a Pterocarpus, reminded me a bit of P. macrocarpus.

What kind of 'Mahogany' were you thinking it was?
This was sold to me as South American mahogany (in Chinese). I thought the same thing. It looked much more like padauk, so I bought a bunch of these boards to make a coffee table. They gave me a really good deal, so I didn’t think much about it other than it was pretty. I got some other African wood that is also somewhat similar.

Looks like padauk to me. Can you post pic of end grain?

Clean up the end grain so you can actually see the characteristics and then compare it to those on my site.
