I was up to visit Paul's family today. It was hard and I did well until I saw his desk and wood room in the house. Took a few moments to pull it together.

Paul has lots of stock for building segmented bowls, lots as in 60 cubic feet or so. He also has a few hundred feet of short boards. There are a few dozen bowl blanks yet to turn, a dozen or so blanks part way built and a dozen or so bowl bases to build off of. There are many items tool wise found in most wood shops. The family will be organizing and deciding on actions. There will be a celebration of life come summer. Each family member will be offered the chance to have a bowl or two, one to keep and one to gift. Yard sales are a possibility as are those seriously considering buying shop items otherwise. There is a lot to think about and the family is looking into options. They want to see items going where they will be used and apprieciated. There will be more updates. Please be patient as there are so many things the family needs to address before getting into the wood sector.

I brought several boxes of shorts and off fall home tonight. I plan to sort these and offer items to WB members. The kind support the Woodbarter family has shown has been shared with the Hinds family and they are greatly thankful to have seen and read some of the responses found here. I thank you as well.

Thanks for sharing Mark. I suspect if they find there are family who want bowls but there arent enough bowls, that some of us would be more than happy to turn some of his blanks for them as a way of honoring him.

Robert, Wood Barter is an important place for me and I'm sure many others. It has become a part of my life and also part of so many other peoples lives and it's just an amazing and unique community. I've said this before when Kevin passed, and this deserves another say.
I remember when I first joined up here. There was a memorial topic for a member named Bikerjim. It struck me odd that an online forum would do this for a guy they never even met. I mean, who gets close to people on an online community?
Robert, Paul was an amazing person. Sure he was a pain in the butt too. But we all can be that too. I've had so many conversations with him and butted heads here and there. But I always respected his opinion and his thought process about what we were discussing. I had to remind him a few times that this wasn't the physics forum and to tone it down a little here. But we'd laugh about it too. I have learned quite a lot from him and I am thankful for it. I'm going to miss his comedic posts, his truthfulness, his wit, his grumpyness, but most of all, I will miss him being my friend.

"Who gets close to people on an online forum they've never met?"
Now I know.....
I do...
And Wood Barter does....

Rest in peace Paul.

Thanks Marc for saying what so many of feel and keep coming back for. Other folks, non-Wood Barter folks, might laugh or sneer when I proudly say I have good friends in my forum. But it is very true. I am deeply grateful for our community.

Robert. To you and your family. My condolences to you all. Your Father was an original! He stood out from the pack. He made his own path. He was a leader of men. And we all looked up to him. Over the last couple of decades or so searching for wood pictures over the internet, i can't tell you how many times his website has crossed my path. It was always a wealth of information, and I truly enjoyed the fact that I had access to not only his website, but the Man himself. One of my favorite things about his individuality, is on his website, it says "A couple of dollars is fine, and in any case, please do NOT donate more than $20.00! I don't think you could find another gentleman that makes it very clear, he's not in it for the money. He was in it for the Passion. Wood was his passion. I respect that!! We will miss Paul.
