Box #28 is a USPS medium flat rate box.
Twenty Eighth box has a piece of Black walnut, 7" x 10" x .875" crotch cut, with wane. There is a piece of Curly maple 8.75" x 7.5" x .95" thick. A piece of Black ash that is 6" wide x 10.25" long x 1.6" thick. This piece has pith and 1/4 sawn material. A 6.5" x 10.25" x .9" piece of Afrormosia. A piece of Dimpled white ash, 1.75" square by 10.75" long.These woods are pictured. If you need more information, ask. There is other wood packed to assure the box is filled to capacity.

It's been two and a half weeks. I can do something with these -- I'll provisionally put my name on Box 21. I say "provisionally" because I have completely blown my budget for wood acquisition this month (and really need to put in the hours this weekend to use what I've got!) I can't send a check until the first week of March. (My first show of the season is Feb. 28; let's hope the customers are feeling generous. . .)
If someone else out there in Woodbarterland wants to snipe this box, now's your chance. I mean, I've scored three already; I don't mind stepping aside for someone else who hasn't had a chance to enjoy this bounty. And remember that boxes 19, 20, 22, and 25 are as yet unclaimed. . . as are boxes 28 and 29. . .
@Mr. Peet , let's give everyone the weekend to respond, and then if no one does, ship it to me -- or you can wait to ship until I get paid, if you'd rather have that assurance.

Just an update, was able to drop off $235 to Paul's daughter on February 13th, to be added to the grandchild education fund. Thank you all that have been able to give beyond the S&H amount to support this action.
Why don't you also send #28 and #29 my way. There are several species in those that i use a lot and they're in thickness that i don't currently have but do need.
Hi @Mr. Peet I would like to support your generous cause by buying a box. Do you happen to have anything black or nearly black in a flat piece you could put in a box? I've just turned a shallow ogee bowl that's about 8" diameter and 2" tall in spalted holly with a 1/2" piece of walnut glued on as the base. I left about 3/16" of the holly on as the start of a base and glued on 1/2" of walnut on top of that, so the base is about 3/4 tall. I chose the darkest piece of wood I had, which was walnut. The idea was to contrast the light color of the holly with a dark wood, and match the color of the spalt lines. The spalt lines are black though, and even though I am happy with the piece I made, I think it would have turned out better if I had a piece of african blackwood or gabon ebony or something similar for the base. I only need a piece about 3" x 3" x 1/2" or 5/8" to serve as the base. I hope to do a few more bowls like this with the holly board I have. If this is possible please let me know! If this is against the spirit of the sale let me know that, and I will happily pick a box from one that is still available or an upcoming one you post. Thanks! (By the way, the alaskan paper birch is still drying in my shop. I've been checking it with a moisture meter and its making progress, but I want to give it a few more months to reach 6% to 8% before I turn it.)

The quick answer is no. Most of the black woods already went. I see a piece of Morado, but that is brown. Box 31 has some beautiful Blood wood in it, 4.5" x 12" x .875 along with Eastern red cedar and Sycamore. Oh, see I have not posted that box yet.
I have some Imbuia...but that is brown...
Box 35 has a piece of Coco bolo with orange streaks and black lines...

Steven, you only need a single piece @ 3" x 3" x 1/2 - 5/8"? I can hook you up with a piece if you just want to cover shipping. I have jet black gaboon and indian ebonies.
I also have Gombeira/Brazilian Ebony. This wood is cream colored when fresh cut but oxidizes to dark brown or black very quickly thereafter. I have 4-5bf of 4/4 Gombeira from West Penn, and this is more of a dark brown. I have 2x2x24 sticks of "Brazilian Ebony" from Bell Forest, and this is more black but would need to be laminated to get to 3x3.

Sorry Ryan, I grabbed them out of a box he had labeled assorted pen blanks. If it was obvious, I usually noted something on them. Check the one with 'SA' against 'Sapele'. The oak, likely lumped as "red" even though it looks like scarlet. However, need a cleaner end shot to assure 'red' versus 'white. See if you can get an end grain on the spalted piece. He talked about having spalted pecan but I only found 1 piece. Otherwise check against the common list of spalted woods. Jatoba and Ipe....can't really even say. Looks like pen-wood....

I finally took the time to completely unpack my box (#17). Took a little while because there was lots on there, and some really pretty stuff. But what grabbed my attention the most was way in the bottom, there are two thin sections that will make incredible box lids. One is end grain which is really cool looking. I'm thinking there are lots of pieces that will make unique pieces for those Khun Phan wooden puzzles too. Well worth the time and effort, thanks again Mark.
