David, here are some pieces I pulled out of storage this weekend. I don't know if they will work for you or not.

The cherry and curly maple are currently 16/4 squares but I can cut them down if you want. The curly maple is the best piece I can find for now BUT it is only 11 inches long, not the 12 you asked for. The black walnut is 3 x 3. The cherry and walnut are longer than 12" but I will cut them down before shipping.

Curly woods are hard to correctly capture in photos so I am showing them from different angles. I also took the cherry outside (the last photo). All measure 10% moisture content.

Let me know if these will work for you. I have tons of black walnut and straight grained cherry but am low on curly maple in these very thick boards. If interested, we'll discuss the details in a private message.

If the maple doesn't have anything more than minor checking, I'm definitely interested (assuming also hard maple).

Oh I don't need anything in particular. Generally I'm interested in anything that could be used for pool cues. So usually 1.5" square+ and 14"+ in length, although I could make some use of other things down the road. Unless it's gonna be used for points, inlays, or veneers, needs to be reasonably straight grain and radial (meaning milled from barkline inward to the pith resulting in end grain that basically looks like parallel lines). Usually quartersawn or riftsawn wood produces boards that are more radial than flatsawn, but it's no guarantee of anything, and some flatsawn boards end up oriented on a radial plane too. Some runout is probably not a problem if the grain is reasonably straight because I can just pick my centers to correct it, assuming there is enough wood to work with.

Highly figured stuff I'm more flexible about. Can use it not as structural pieces or core it with another wood for stability, weight, playability. The pool cue butt though tapers from .860" to 1.25" or so, so the figure needs to be tight to be of interest. Even for straight-grained woods, if the grain is readily visible it should be pretty tight to look OK.

Generally want species that are at least as dense as hard maple and have a fine texture. Particularly interested in interesting domestics that aren't commercially available like mesquite, Texas ebony, desert ironwood. That stuff doesn't show up in cues much.

Hi Todd, I do have hard (sugar) maple that would fit those requirements and also have bubinga, a tropical hardwood from Africa that has a hardness rating that is between hard maple and desert ironwood. Sorry I don't have mesquite, or TX ebony. Many other sellers on here do have those so I would suggest you post this note on the "Want to Buy" forum. @Mike1950 has tons of great woods that would work for you, I'm sure.

Have some dry Big Leaf maple Burl cue blanks. Not as dense as Hard- but I sell quite a few to cue makers. also have others- 12+ length of ABW 1.5 x 1.5

Hey Chuck,
I have a few 8/4 boards about 10 inches wide and five feet long. I can cut some blanks for you if interested. Nothing thick enough for pepper mills, however.

Phooey! Thought you had peppermill size. You might start a new post with pics if you want to move that Bubinga. Chuck
