I started working on these a few months ago and worked on them here and there, as time allowed. We needed a few plant stands for around the house, each able to accommodate holding a few plants in front of various windows in our home - hence the heights.
Ash for the bases, screwed together for the sake of time, with walnut plugs. Tops are Narra x2 (that came from @Tony quite some time ago) and Walnut. Minwax Polycrylic for the finish. While I've always preferred the look and feel of a good oil based finish, it's really hard to beat the ease and quick cure time of the water based Polycrylic - and fumes that don't stink up the shop (or waft into the house) for far too long...
I came across a floating top design for a table quite some time ago - at least 10 years ago - that I always wanted to build. Decided that I would incorporate it into this build. The tops float about 1/4" off the base, with the end stretchers set in, with cutouts to really help it look like it's floating.
Wife's happy with them - and so am I!
