POSTING PICTURES QUESTIONS HERE

Can't post pics

I've followed all the instructions, pics are all sized correctly but all I get is the little "X'd" black box. What am I doing wrong or do you need a certain number of post to do pictures?

I did fisure out the attachments are not loading.

Make 2 more posts and you should be able to post pics. You need to get past the magic SPAM number of 5 posts. If you need help after that let us know.

Pictures in post replys

Before we switched to the new server host in our reply's to a post that had pictures it would not show the pictures to save on site speed etc, now it shows the pictures in the reply's, is there a way that we can go back to the not showing pictures setting? When it shows the pictures it really clutters up threads and also im guessing slows down the site by showing a picture 50 times more than its needed.

Just a thought

Hang in there, Wes! We'll talk you through it... What kind if device are you posting from? What size are the photos you're trying to upload(dimensions and/or kilobytes)? Once you get the hang of it, it's not hard at all. Plus, if we hash it out here in public, there may be some lurkers who learn a thing or two...

Hi David, I'm posting from a laptop and the pictures range in 150kb size. I'm not a novice at posting in fourns so I really can't understand why this is not working.


:dunno: Now it appears it worked on this one. I attached this pic, inserted into the post, previewed it, got the black box, deleted the attachment from the post text so it should not been there and it shows up! I'm baffled from the. I'll try to post some pics of stuff in the "completed projects" section and see if they show up. :dunno:

Here's another weird feature of our forum software. When you select Preview, you can see your text but images do not appear in Preview mode. What you have to do is save it as a draft, then go into your draft folder, open the draft, ^then^ click Preview again and you can preview them. After you get used to it, it only takes a few seconds literally, but it's a PITA when you're first learning to use it.

When you deleted the attachment code after you previewed it, you still didn't delete the attachment which is why you got the thumbnail. You actually did everything right, it's just that when you clicked preview you didn't know our preview doesn't work that way.

Sorry for the hassle but you actually have it down now. I went ahead and inserted your attachment again for you. Nice mill by the way!

I know. Since we had the security upgrade it rendered our custom image software inoperable, but Mike said he was pretty close to having our new forum all built, he suggested I wait since any money we spend of this forum will be pithed down the rabbit hole in a day or three anyway. So you heard it here first - our new forum is coming soon and it will be ALL NEW FROM THE GROUND UP!

Thanks Rob! So now I know I'm not the only one that has been having issues! Kevin's probably a little tired of coming up with reasons why I have been having problems. A learning curve....hmmm.....what's Kevin's phone number again?

On Kevins advice I guess I will post here my problem and see if anyone can figure out what has changed. I have checked and rechecked my computer and cannot find anything different. Here is what I have always done and it gives me big pictures and not thumbnails.
First I download the pics into my computer full size.
Then I resize them to 800 wide and save for the internet.
I start a new post and browse for the pics I want to use.
I click on add atachment them and it gives them to me in a list.
I insert into post.
I save to draft.
I click edit draft and preview post, and I can see the pics.
I post reply or draft and the pics don't show, just the number and the typed text.

Ok so now it appears to be working, but why does the pic come up so small? It's just a giant thumbnail.
This is crazy, I tried this before and no go, I had to email them to Kevin and he posted them. I tried a different post with some pics of a table for supper duck and the same thing, at that point I just gave up. :dunno:
Apparently we can only have thumbnails now .:sad:

When I'm not posting from my phone, I resize where 800 is the largest dimension(not always width). I also try to keep the photo between 100 and 150 kB.

From my phone or iPad, I can only post one photo per thread. I usually post additional pics in replies and then merge the posts. That's only from my phone.
