POSTING PICTURES QUESTIONS HERE

When I'm not posting from my phone, I resize where 800 is the largest dimension(not always width). I also try to keep the photo between 100 and 150 kB.

From my phone or iPad, I can only post one photo per thread. I usually post additional pics in replies and then merge the posts. That's only from my phone.

Posting from my laptop, never had problems before. The part I don't understand is why when I preview the post from a draft I can see the pics, they show up fine, then when I post reply they won't come up. Is it possible for one of you mods to get into my saved drafts and see what I am talking about? I can preview the post of anything in saved drafts and the pics are there, it's like the get stuck and won't come up when I click post reply. :dunno:

On Kevins advice I guess I will post here my problem and see if anyone can figure out what has changed. I have checked and rechecked my computer and cannot find anything different. Here is what I have always done and it gives me big pictures and not thumbnails.
First I download the pics into my computer full size.
Then I resize them to 800 wide and save for the internet.
I start a new post and browse for the pics I want to use.
I click on add atachment them and it gives them to me in a list.
I insert into post.
I save to draft.
I click edit draft and preview post, and I can see the pics.
I post reply or draft and the pics don't show, just the number and the typed text.

Greg - Just a couple of thoughts. When you changed from your laptop, did you change operating systems or versions? Second - when you say you "Save for the internet" is that a JPEG format or something else? Try it by doing everything you just said, but choose "Save as JPEG" instead of save for internet. It's a long shot, but what the hey.

Greg - When I edit the post above with your truck pictured I see the file named new-gmc-001.jpg. When I edit the post in Duck's future dining room table, there is no file attached. Is it possible you are missing a "Save" step somehow?

Greg - Just a couple of thoughts. When you changed from your laptop, did you change operating systems or versions? What do you mean by operating systems? Like which windows version? I am running windows 7. was running vista, but it worked even with that change, till now. When I use photoshop it has a save for web choice and it does save as a jpeg.
What I don't understand is why the pics are viewable as a draft but not when posted. And it let me post 1 pic of the truck today, but it would not originally.

The file names are there in the saved draft. It's like I said, somehow it's stuck in the draft and won't post. I can see the pics in the draft. Can you get into my saved drafts?

Would have to be Scott or Kevin... My moderator tools don't extend to seeing your drafts.

FWIW, I use the same 'save for web' feature in photoshop when editing pics. You mentioned pixel size(800), but do you also adjust the file size(should be in kB)? That's the one I try to keep between 100 and 150.

My Guess- and it is a WAG mind you- part of having outgrown software- a stopgap measure to keep us up and runnin- remember guessing.

Ok that explains the thumbnail thing but not the other issues I am having. :dunno:

Yup, I was just checking mine and all my old pics have become thumbnails, they used to be large pics that filled the screen. Something has changed on the forum software.

I can't fix your problem, but I can suggest a workaround. Use photobucket for uploading photos (there are also photobucket apps for android and i-stuff). Once uploaded to photobucket, you select and copy the photobucket img link (a url) into your post. If done properly, the image appears within the body of the post, even though the image never gets uploaded to WB (saves from resizing to get to WB limits and saves WB space). I had never tried it until tonight (see my needs help post in woodturners general discussion) but works great!

Ok I tried posting the pics of my truck in my I quit thread since this was when I first discovered the problem. Same thing, I can see the pics in the preview but not when it is posted.

Ok that worked , so it must be something in the preview post link.
