Kevin,

I just tried to search for this thread:

http://woodbarter.com/showthread.php?tid=1861

I tried "what is it" and "WHAT IS IT" (WITH the quotes in both cases so it would look for the exact phrase, and I told it "titles only" but neither search found it? Seems like it should have. Am I doing something wrong?

My guess is that it ignores common words like "what", "is", and "it". Also thee is a 4 letter minimum search, so if you search "what is oak" you will get no results because it ignores "what" & "is" and "oak" is too short. But if you search "what is oaks" (improper grammar I realize but just for syntax's sake) you will get plenty of results including for "oak" singular.

I believe with the quotes or even with "what+is+it" with just the pluses sans the quote tags it should show that in the results but no joy. I can see the search function needs tweaking I will ask about it. It's unusual to have a title "what is it" so this does fall through that crack in the search function. Not the most perfect system for sure.

Yeah, I think you are right about common words being ignored, but I thought that putting a phrase in quotes overcame that. I believe it does on some sites, but I might be wrong.
