Do any of you woodturners core bowl blanks? If so what type of tool or system do you use and what do you like or dislike about it?

Listen kid, there are two things you didn't know about the Earth. One is me. And the other is... Godzilla.

I use the One Way coring system. I like it and if you follow the instructions (which I did not on first use) it is pretty fool proof.

I don't have a coring system yet. I have thought about getting one, everytime I see a pile of chips on the floor, lol.

I’ve used both Mcnaughton and easycore.Easy core has shorter learning curve but costs may be more. Mcnaughton seems to be a bit more flexible in size and shape of cores. There’s a couple other systems out there, don’t know name off hand. I hadn’t done any more coring since about 10 years ago and ended selling both systems on WB. Still have plenty of cores to keep me occupied with different projects!

Perhaps at some time in the future I'll get a coring system. Every time I put a larger blank on the lathe and then put most of it on the floor in chips it seems like a great idea, especially if the blank was an exceptional piece of wood or pricey. I don't do enough larger blanks at this time for it to be cost effective.

Oneway coring system for me. Really nice as I also have the Hunter Korpro carbide cutter attached so (mostly) cuts like butta.........

Looking forward to trying the McNaughton someday (still haven't unpacked), I bought recently from @TimR

I only did a couple core for bowls with the Mcnaughton . If you’re into trying your hand at cowboy hats, the straight Mcnaughton cutter comes in handy for some of the larger pieces you need to remove.
