What's the most unusual or unexpected woodworking skill you've learned along your journey?

There is no minimum post requirement,
Long eared galoots, primates, the new leaner woodtick and semi-sawed off leprechauns are welcome to post an answer.
Who are you? Are we enemies? Why am I on this wall? Where is Buttercup?
"Lemme 'esplain....No, there is too much. Lemme sum up. Buttercup is to marry Humperdinck in little less than half an hour. So all we have to do is get in, break up the wedding, steal the princess, make our escape....after I kill Count Rugen."
That doesn't leave much time for dilly-dallying.

No hesitation - guitar building, lots of different skills. Followed closely by making lamps - me and electricity don't always play well together.

I'm with Mike. Never ever envisioned myself milling lumber from trees but thats what this crazy hobby progressed to. When I was chainsaw milling I always dreamed of having a bandmill, but now im to dang old so I just live vicariously thru others. And now I have more wood than ill ever use in my remaining lifetime.

I remember when I was about 10yo and have to have a wood burner. You know the pen with the big wedge shaped tip. Based on what I did with that, would never guessed the enhancements I can make to pieces. Albeit with a little more maturity and several levels of technology beyond that scorcher I used to have.

Building my dream workshop. I started my woodworking journey in my 2-car garage, where I drug out equipment each time I went out to work, then cleaned up and reconsolidated tools in order to repark 1 car in that garage. I stored wood in my garden shed, as well as in my utility trailer. The garage was unconditioned space, so Winter & Summer temperature extremes would stop production. Now I can work year round, and have sufficient room for all my wood inventory, and tools, in air conditioned space. Chuck

Chainsaw carving. Never really wanted to get into it but my wife wanted a picture on a board and I didn't have time to do it properly so I rough carved it with a chainsaw. Turned out the way she wanted it . Later sold to a gallery for resale...

My wife and I have been wanting a chainsaw carved bear for quite awhile. Saw them all the time in California, but not once in Texas. Chuck
