Have you ever built something so ridiculous that you were too embarrassed to show anyone?

nah, embrace mistakes- laugh at them and learn. To make a mistake or crap piece you had the courage to say I can do something I never have done. I can't never makes anything, and is always right.
Now turners- a whole different breed- They say look at this dent in my head-blood down side of face, damn thing bounced off wall and got me.
Best one I remember is @DKMD story of his wife asking what happened, his tee shirt is shreded, oh I made a mistake... They laugh it off and put on new shirt or repair with CA. :yipee:

A cabinet for my chop saw that is so wonky the drawers don’t slide, ….its just off a little in a whole bunch of directions. Still in use, I keep saying I’m going to take it apart and fix it all. Just on the list of to dos.

I've rarely admitted to making stuff the way it is, now you want to talk about stuff that I might shoulda forgotten to make... I haveade.several.thimgs that got immediately destroyed and thrown on the burn pile. As far as ridiculous, I am likely still in the middle of making that one...

Yeah. Not woodworking though. I bought a piece of steel to make a carving knife (vanax) and didn’t check if it had been annealed. I then tried filing it to shape with my expensive bastard file. It took two passes to break the plate and blunt my file permanently. I checked and it had actually been hardened to 66 hrc. That’s also the reason it was brittle. I have always wanted to revisit that one.
