What's the most bizarre thing you've ever used/seen as a makeshift woodworking tool?

Getting close, but keep sanding.

I got nothing. The coolest thing I've seen lately though was the cutter head this tree contractor guy built himself. It had tongs to grab the tree trunk and a chain saw cutting head to cut off the trunk right below the tongs. He could then lift the cut off section straight up using an articulated arm. The whole thing was mounted on a small flat bed truck. It allowed him to remove trees that were in tight quarters, next to houses or other landscaping,, etc.

I suspect you've peaked... Not sure anyone here has one to top that.
I'd seen the same guy take off his clothes and use for cleaning rags when painting. He duct taped a shovel to a back-hoe to dig a narrower tail ditch. Paid me to paint a dead Frazer fir tree green....I could write a book about his many off the wall actions, but could also tell you of his many humanitarian actions.

must have been in a hurry!
He forgot his tool bucket with all the different edges. He was often in a hurry. Even MacGyver would have taken notes. I recall helping him on a spackle job and using step flashing as an applicator. Bit more sanding in the end, but finished work looked good.

Fractal burning, it doesn't do anything to enhance the wood. I use a rock hammer to knock off bark, but I just think that's normal.

Plaster and drywall require innovative techniques sometimes. Disposable scredes. Beer cans are too flexible nowadays.

Like Tom, have a couple sharpened Allen wrenches, and have also used a screwdriver sharpened on concrete blocks as a chisel - once....

Only once? Come on, where's the sense of adventure?
Was caught without any of my tools. Nephew in law had bought a screen door and while I was visiting asked me to install it. Didn't warn me ahead of time and I was an hour away from home and 45 minutes from a store. Used my pocket knife to score outline of strike plate and the screw-chisel to gouge out the waste. Left the "new" tool for him to add to his collection.

I've used guitar strings as line burning tools (not as quick as scrap formica), clearning nozzles of glue bottles and windshield washer jets, cleaning grill burners, and more. Just nice things to keep around. For you diabetics out there--high E strings can be used to draw blood better than any finger prick sold by medical companies!!
