Got my first lathe and need a few parts. It's a Nova 1624 with 1.25 x 8tpi spindle. It came with a 4 jaw psi barracuda 2, which is 1 x 8tpi, but the seller kept the adapter for his powermatic. He recommended the psi adapter, but i noticed it doesn't have a set screw like the Nova version. I saw some reviews on the Nova adapter saying it had unacceptable runout. So what's a good alternative that has a set screw for reverse turning (the barracuda 2 can't go in reverse, but I'm just trying to future proof).

Also, i was recommended in my other thread to get the nova acruline for tail stock alignment. Is this a good option, or should i get a different third party one?

Ryan, I've got a MT2 tail stock alignment tool that I plan to eventually list for sale and can easily part with now. I can check later what brand it is and message you about it. Should be able to slip it in the box of wood that'll be headed your way, so there'd be no extra shipping cost.

That would be great. Thanks!

You're going to want a better chuck in the near future.

You may want to only get an adapter that works with the chuck that you have. Down the road when you get another chuck get one in the correct thread, or get chuck & adapter from the same source as a matched pair.

I have a Nova 16" lathe & 3 chucks; a One-way Stronghold, a Vicmarc 120, & a Nova. The Nova rarely gets used.

Can you elaborate on why I'll want to replace this chuck?
