Not really an extreme. It is a 6" wide vessel, so 3" would be half. It looked like a knot on the side and the red line looked like it was connected. Seeing the red line had check hashes that did not show in the other wood was also a hint of something different than regular wood.I don’t think so. Good point. However, upon looking again I can see the orientation of the rings. The red line runs tangential to the rings.
