I’m curious if any of you have started a Morel patch in the area you spread your shavings and sawdust.

Dont know the answer to that, but sounds like it would be worth a try, where would you get the spores? I always thought Morels were a fungi that couldn't be cultivated, but maybe I'm wrong....

That used to be the case, but there are a couple companies offering spores and other related materials.

There requirements are very specific, so cultivating them commercially is very limited/expensive. However, if you happen to have a site with the right soil, shade, moisture, etc, it is possible to get a "patch" growing.
