It feels like I've fallen victim to an eBay scammer. A visit to the nearby FedEx depot revealed that the tracking number entered into eBay is for a completely different shipment of 7 packages from a major retailer to an address in my town.

Could it have been a typo when the seller was entering it into eBay? Sure. But what are the chances that a typo would (a) match a valid active FedEx tracking number, and (b) the delivery address on that tracking number would be in the same zip code as mine (which made all the tracking updates look sufficiently genuine to not arouse suspicion)?

Slim odds, I would say. Requested a refund and reported suspicious seller activity.

Correction time: what I had labelled as "lignum vitae" is, I'm 99% certain, actually vera wood, often sold as "Argentine lignum vitae". I was browsing Paul Hinds' site and remembered he'd done a comparison between them, it's pretty much a guarantee I'd been calling it the wrong thing.
