Been getting bad headaches lately in the shop. Figured it was the Kerosene Torpedo Heater. But today, I went out and turned on the heat to warm up the shop. 20 minutes later, I went out, and it was a foggy mess of Kerosene vapor in the shop. I opened the doors and aired it out. I researched up on YouTube and did my best to take apart and clean parts. Kinda proud of myself that I got it running decent again... at least currently the Kerosene Vapor is gone.

I need to do something with mine out in my garage. Haven't serviced it since I bought it many years ago!
Is starting to smell when I run it.
I would imagine there is a filter and nozzle?

I worked with those things for years on jobsites, not a big fan but they do make a lot of quick heat. A couple of years ago my son borrowed mine to help start a diesel truck on a cold morning, I told him not to bring it back :sarcastic:

With our ice and digit temps supposedly coming this weekend - I've thought about buying one for the house, but then, I thought better. Opted for my generator and radiant space heaters if we lose power. I have had the torpedoes on jobsites for years. Much prefer them over those old vertical ones that smelled to high heaven.

Yeah we're supposed to get 10-20 below on Saturday with wind chills to -40. I am sure my radiant floor will do the job. We like to keep the old cook stove cranking when it's that cold to save heating costs. I cleaned the chimney and the stove this morning, it wasn't bad but I don't want my hot fire to cause a chimney fire. I'm going to make sure that I have pizza making supplies on hand, the byproduct of a ripping fire is a hot oven. Figure I might as well take advantage of it.

Had that happen with a Kerosun. The burner was slightly misaligned and made a horrible sooty mess! But heat is so critical.

Here is the video I watched for maintence.

The new diesel heaters that are available now are pretty cool and they vent outside! Warm air blows inside. Check Amazon. I'll be getting one for camping in my truck. It will cook me out of my truck! I've heard people using them to heat garages. Lots of YouTube videos on them.

Never knew those existed. Pretty cool.

Kenbo the Canadiater bought one for his shop and just ran a show on it 2 weeks ago.

We are supposed to be 10 degrees warmer than you, but calling for 1-2 feet of snow with the cold.

I'm thinking about one, but have to figure out how to get the hose that flows the hot air into the house. Guess core drill. Just don't have time to get that done before tomorrow night.

I have seen them and considered one for a camper rebuild as a deep cold/ off-grid heat source. Seems easier to find diesel than propane in a handy carry jug that won't go boom if you drop it on the concrete
