Hi folks. Jerry in Tucson. Not new here. Was labeled a lurker by this site, so decided to keep on being one until today. Some people know me, some wish they didn't, but that's how it goes. You can't be a winner all the time.
I've been an active turner since 2009. I do pretty much bowls and hollow forms. Since then, I think I've progressed pretty well considering the woods I have to work with. Trashy old Mesquite and Palo Verde. Some Eucalyptus, a little Desert Ironwood, and small stuff that grows locally. I've even turned some Cholla and have been pretty pleased with the outcome. I've also a few canes for the VA Canes for the wounded vets program here in Tucson, but can't stand making anything that requires adhering to dimensions.
I was a cabinet/furniture maker until I retire. "Retire" is not a typo. I still do it, but on a very rare basis. Most of the stuff I do is for cost of materials only. I have this need to stay active. Thanks.......... Jerry (in Tucson)
