Package received! Thanks Tim!
Tell you a quick story. I was gifted a piece of ABW 30 years ago. It was about 4 inches wide. I decided to make an IWCS sample from it. Back in the day the heartwood was everything. At the mill, you cut for grade. Well, when I cut that block down to 3 inches wide I ripped the bright white sapwood off. Within just a few years I was regretting the action, being I took away so much from the sample and so much when teaching others.

Hope you have no regrets with your piece.

I know a few fellas who enjoy making boxes and other turnings, almost exclusively, out of AB. Some are ornamental turners.

Many look to keep some of the sapwood in the finished turnings.

Offers a great contrast to the deep black of the heartwood.
