I am offering 2 book matched pieces of Indian Rosewood plus an extra one for $17 plus shipping . size is 3 1/2 " X 8 1/2 " X 1/2 " thick for the bookmatched and 3 1/2 X 5 1/2 X 1/2 inch thick for the extra one. Wood is dry and two toned IMG_1604.JPG
 
Joe - do you have a fourth piece that could make up the 4th short side of a box? Doesn't have to be exactly 5 1/2" long - although the 1/2" thick dimension would be needed.

Yes , I could cut you a piece that would be 5 X 4 X 1/2 inch or a little thicker . What would be your finished dimentions of the box ?
 
Cool. Combine with the first three pieces, I could make a box roughly 8"x 5" x 3.5"deep, 1/2" thick sides. If you'd do that for me I'll buy these from you. Thank you. I have a slice you sent with that earlier set but it tapers thinner than the 1/2" and I couldn't quite get enough out of it.

I will have to cut you 2 pieces for use on the sides of the box , because the small piece shown does taper down to less than 1/2 inch . It tapers to 3/8 at the end . So I will cut you two pieces that will be bookmatched . Let you know with a picture tomorrow.

I just cut the two pieces . The dimentions are ok but as you can see , there is a worm hole in one edge on one side . Not visible on the other .A liner inside the box would cover up the worm hole IMG_1621.webp IMG_1622.webp To cut out the worm hole you would have 4 x 3 1/2 x 1/2 " thick pieces. If they are usuable , you can have all 5 pieces for $20 plus shipping.

Thanks for doing that Joe but I think a box would look funny with solid color sides on 2 sides and multi-color sides on the other two. You mentioned the shorter piece in your original post tapers from 1/2" to 3/8" . Is that just on the very end of that board or does the taper start on one side and go all across to the other side? I'm trying to decide if I could get enough out of this new piece and out of the one I already have to combine with the two longer sides you're offering here.

It tapers from one end to the other , starting at a litle over 1/2 " and ends up at 3/8 " You know , it is rough cut with a bandsaw

Doug decided not to make a purchase , so the wood is available to anyone. There are 5 pieces for $25 plus shipping
 
Not bad looking stuff, just still on buying limitations. The wife suggested we have enough. Enough everything, so I have to start throwing stuff away till the world looks level... Probably not the best time to ask her about some more wood to put in my stash...
 
Anyone interested in two pieces of East Indian Rosewood 3 " X 3 " X 12 " long ?
Maybe a picture or two would help.

I can post a picture , but it would only shop a black piece of wood that is coated with wax. Came from my collection of over 30 years.
A neighbor just trimmed a sea grape tree .....good sized logs maybe 8-10 inches in diameter . Are they any good ?
