Can anyone confirm this wood is Sourwood (Oxydendrum arboreum)?
Got this piece of sourwood a couple of years ago from a guy in Virginia who milled it himself. At the time he told me it was sourwood. The piece had been sitting on the top of a stack exposed to the elements, so most of it is soft and spalted, but the core near the pith is still dense. I've cut the slab into multiple pieces, but all the photos are from the same slab.
