When I travel, I often like to try to find neat wood or woodworking/tool shops to visit. Other than Woodcrafts and similr chains (which I really like), they aren't always easy to find in web or YP seaeches... or at least it isnt easy to tell good ones from bad.

I'd love to see a section dedicated to WBite recommendations for places worthy of stopping for a look (woodworking related, of course), ideally organized by locale. It may take a while to build up, but I could see it becoming a valuable section to search wen traveling. I made a stop in Asheville, NC today at such a place that might interest other WBites, and will post an overview in Kenbo's Chat Room (for lack of a better place) as a sample of what I'm suggesting.

A section in a subforum? Or a dedicated topic? (Sticky)

I like this idea too. (There's a few around me here in Connecticut. I'll have check in on them to take some pics)...

Do you have an idea on the set up, as in what you have in mind as to the layout?
States listed in alphabetical order? And a section you click on to see posts?
States listed as a sticky open for posting (reviews only, no discussion) ?

I don't know, Marc, the best way to set it up with this forum software. Maybe a section in the breakroom subforum? Or its own subforum with each state as a section? The easiest might just be a section and some type of naming convention for thread titles, like "State - City". I'd leave them open for additional posts for 2 reasons. First, if there are more than 1 good place in a city, it would be great to have them in the same thread. Second, later visitors could update if things have changed (business closed, sold, moved, etc.). I'd see what suggestions others might have.

I agree with leaving open- I hate the closed ones- I think we lose more then we gain. Probably will be an East of the big muddy thing anyhow- I know of no such place in this state nor-Id, Mt, Nv or Ore. We have just a mite less history then you eastern/southern folks.

I know of a place in Jayess ms

True...I could always just edit the first post to make it updated.

Yep....I can see it going towards that direction. That would be a halibut easier.

Suggest monitoring it so it doesn't become a free advertisement thread. I've seen this type of thread become dominated by shop owners who just want to advertise their wares. That was on a fly fishing board.
